Project Description

Wе create a sustainable partnership of professional public and private institutions and organizations amongst the EU countries, through which exchange expertise and best practices in the sphere of prevention against natural disasters and hazards in terms of successful prоtection children and youngsters.

reducing the risk of disasters, accidents and terrorist acts and first aid among students aged 10-14 years


Module: Reducing the risk of disaster:

1. Familiarizing students with concepts and terminology of the international strategy for reducing disaster risk and what role they can play in it. Main components and concepts: identification of hazards identification and risk assessment, risk analysis, risk mitigation, risk management / prevention / planning and preparation.

Children discuss pre-prepared cases, situations and videos in the course of which they are based on concrete examples of form, their understanding of content and meaning of these concepts. - 1 hour

2. Types of disasters and accidents pertaining to the country and region. Major disasters, that occurred in the past. Implications and lessons learned from them. Prepare a map of possible disasters that may occur in the region, their strength and frequency of repetition and areas of potential damage – 1 hour / preparation of the map can be as home assignment in which students are given additional resources that may use / brochures, articles, reports and assessments of civil protection agencies, Red Cross and others, addresses of websites that can be found supporting materials.

3. Earthquakes. Tectonic plates, faults and epicenter of earthquakes. Strength and intensity of earthquakes and related damage / Watching videos of earthquakes / – 1 hour

4. What if an earthquake affects your home and school – action during an earthquake. / Students are divided into groups and members of each group developed a separate document and then discuss these documents:

- Children draw maps of dangerous places in the home, school, street;
– Produce an action plan for an earthquake at home, school, street, public transport. -1 hour

5. Hydro meteorological disasters: floods, thunderstorms, snow storms and ice. Actions for different types of disasters.

Children learn the main factors determining the time and when and under what conditions and parameters they can cause disasters:

- Studying the system for early warning and alert, and what measures should be taken for preparation;
– Discussion of actions and behavior in different types of hydro meteorological disasters. -1 hour

6. Practical session: Preparation and discussion about the content of personal and family package in case of disaster. – 1 hour

7. Practical training: Introduction to the school plan and the main principles for action in case of earthquake and fire, and implementation of evacuation within the individual class. -1 hour

8. Action in case of chemical and radioactive contamination. Potential sources of contamination for the area. Signals and safety measures – 1 hour

Module: Fire Safety

1. Ignition sources and causes of fires in the home, school and public places. Fire properties of substances and materials. The sign for FIRE HAZARD. Hazardous factors of fire damage on the human body and ways to protect against them – 1 hour

2. Practical training in fire fighting:

- Explanation and demonstration of how to stop the burning and the ways and means of fire fighting. Explain and show the most common mistakes in fire fighting. Discussions in which cases it’s necessary to use fire extinguishing means and when to proceed to evacuation;
– Work with hand tools – extinguishing hose, nozzle, dust and hydrocarbon fire extinguisher.
– Use the handy resources for small fires with other sources of ignition in the kitchen, the bedroom, in the classroom, in the chemical laboratory in the computer class – 2 hours

3. Practical session: -1 hour

- Understanding the signs for evacuation and reading scheme for evacuation. Markings and available means of fire;

- Preparation and discussion of the evacuation scheme for the class. Requirements for escape routes;

- Organization and basic principles of evacuation. Training actions for evacuation in very smoky areas. ”Fall and crawl”

- What must include the call for a fire in Fire Safety – 1 hour.

Module: first aid.

1. Key actions in providing PDP. Personal safety and protection of the area of the incident. Assessment of vital signs and condition of victims. Contents of the call to 112; – 1 hour

2. Wounds and principles of treatment of wounds. Bleeding and bleeding:

Definition of wound;

5. Shock and unconsciousness

First Aid – placing the victim in the shock position, stable side position;

8. Handling and transportation of injured

Types of transfers – with litter / ways of placing, positions, depending on personal injury, with a belt, with a blanket/placing a blanket under the victim; with a chair;

Accommodation in the vehicle;
9. Emotional and social support. Reaction to stress. – 1 hour

10. Providing emotional support;


1. Sources and targets of terrorism. Forms of expression and behavior in various terrorist acts:
